AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids): Alpha Hydroxy Acids are a class of acids derived from fruit sugar or milk. They contribute to stimulating the desquamation process of the corneocytes found on the surface of the stratum corneum. In relatively low concentrations, Alpha Hydroxy Acids are recognized for having moisturizing effects on the skin as they stimulate the production of amino acids during the corneocyte desquamation phase. In higher concentrations, they have keratolytic effects and help exfoliate the scalp.
BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids): Beta-Hydroxy-Acids are acids which are less irritating than Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHA). They are mild exfoliating agents that gently remove dead cells (keratolytic effect) and stimulate epidermal cell renewal.
Cider Vinegar: This extract is obtained from the fermentation of apples which are then transformed into vinegar. Its high content in tannins gives it purifying and astringent properties. Cider Vinegar is rich in fruit acids (citric and malic acid) which contribute to improving cellular renewal and provide a regenerative effect. Cider Vinegar Extract is commonly used in hair care products as a cleansing, protective and reconditioning agent.
Burdock Extract: Burdock is a plant whose leaves and roots are used for their medicinal properties. Rich in polysaccharides, Burdock Extract is known for its moisturizing, repairing and soothing properties. It’s an ideal active ingredient for combination skin: purifying and sebo-regulating, Burdock Extract moisturizes dry areas of the scalp whilst purifying greasy areas.
White dead-nettle Extract: White Dead-nettle is a perennial herbaceous plant with a square stem and white flowers belonging to the Lamiaceae family. Composed of saponins, mineral salts, tanins and vitamin C, white dead-nettle is used in hair care treatments as it moisturizes and regulates the scalp’s sebum secretion.
Pine Bark Extract: Pine is a tree with reddish, cracked and scaly bark. Pine belongs to the Pinaceae family comprising no less than 111 species. Pine bark is used in hair care products because of its sebo-regulating and antiseptic properties.
Magnesium Chloride: Magnesium Chloride is used in the treatment of acne for its antiseptic, cleansing, sebo-regulating and healing properties. It can also be used to treat other skin conditions such as eczema.
Vitamins B3 (or PP): Niacinamide or vitamin B3 or PP is a water-soluble vitamin that forms part of the vitamin B group. It has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe the scalp.
Jujube Extract: Jujube is a Latin American plant recognized for its anti-dandruff properties because it gently removes scales, soothes itching, restores the skin’s natural barrier and promotes normal cellular renewal. The scalp is therefore cleansed.
